Helping to attract new business at St Modwen’s landmark warehouse scheme

Helping to attract new business at St Modwen’s landmark warehouse scheme

The final stage of a landmark warehouse scheme has been brought to life in Tamworth, making it one of the most prominent locations in the Midlands for warehouse and distribution operators.

Completed in May 2017, Unit B at Centurion Park, which was commissioned by St Modwen, one of the UK’s leading regeneration specialists, forms the larger part of a logistics and distribution hub that covers a staggering 21-acre site.

The focus for the project was to produce a highly functional building that was aesthetically identical to the adjacent warehouse, providing consistent building aesthetics and attracting businesses to locate in the area. Euroclad’s Elite roof and wall systems, including ridge-to-eaves rooflights, provided the matching, high quality, modern appearance that the project required.

Specialist installers Hickton Construction chose Euroclad’s Elite 51 and Elite 60 vertical cladding systems for the walls which, together with the Elite Secret Fix SF500 roofing system, provided a 25 year full system guarantee.

Euroclad’s high performance Elite Secret Fix SF500 roofing system, covering 12,100m2, provided excellent acoustic and thermal insulation, giving the roof an energy efficient U-value of 0.18W/m2K. The external roofing profile was manufactured using Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® in Albatross, with ridge-to-eaves rooflights also installed over an area of 1,750m2.

The walls, which had a 0.25W/m2K U-value, were made up of 5000m2 of Elite 51 and 623m2 of Elite 60, manufactured from Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® in Albatross and Merlin Grey respectively.

Ideally located adjacent to junction 10 of the M42, Unit B provides the opportunity for speculative industrial warehouse accommodation on a prime site, offering 14,215m2 of warehouse space with 24/7 access, parking for over 100 vehicles and two-level access doors.

David Thornloe, from Hickton Construction which installed the systems and profiles, said: “This was a large-scale project that had to be completed on time and on budget using high quality products and having worked with Euroclad on many projects before, they were our first choice.

“They provided us with a range of options to help create the desired effect and delivered our products in good time, which was great for us as we were working to a tight schedule. They also helped us work around the low pitch of the roof by recommending their SF500 Elite roofing system which can be installed with a very low pitch.”

Euroclad’s diverse range of steel and aluminium cladding systems are available in a range of

options and colours. Founded in1981, Euroclad has maintained its cutting edge approach to high performance, cost-effective solutions to remain at the forefront of the industry for over 35 years.

The future of modern, energy-efficient homes

The future of modern, energy-efficient homes
—Efficiency and style at Exeter eco-housing development—

Holland Park is Exeter’s first ever zero carbon housing development. Located at the edge of Exeter Golf and Country Club in Old Rydon Lane, it comprises 40 premium properties made with exceptional craftsmanship and fitted with furnishings and appliances of the highest specification.

Each property is AA energy rated under the UK’s Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) regulations and all have zero carbon emissions due to their use of solar PV systems.

The construction specification for the luxury properties in Holland Park highlighted the need for energy-efficient products that also offer a striking contemporary style. To achieve these characteristics, the project’s installer Progressive Systems Ltd chose Euroclad’s VieoZinc warm roofing system to be used on the properties.

Connecting People with Nature

Sustainability is at the very heart of Euroclad’s manufacturing and is critical to key Supply Chain Partnerships. Euroclad endorses the sustainable credentials of Colorcoat® pre-finished steel and it’s BES6001 responsible sourcing certification, which is a core element of Elite Systems.
Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® and Colorcoat Prisma® pre-finished steel are both manufactured by Tata Steel at their Shotton site in North Wales, surrounded by the Dee Estuary. The site balances industrial manufacturing with the environment and is home to open natural spaces and various wildlife species such as pond life, Terns and Canada Geese.
For World Environment day on the 5th of June, staff at Shotton will be celebrating by “Connecting People with Nature” through a series of educational walks through the diverse environments, as well as guided tours of the Tern Lagoons – which is officially a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

World Environment Day

A Platform for Action
World Environment Day is the United Nations’ most important day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. Since it began in 1974, it has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries.
The People’s Day
Above all, World Environment Day is the ‘people’s day’ for doing something to take care of the Earth or become an agent of change. That ‘something’ can be focused locally, nationally or globally; it can be a solo action or involve a crowd – everyone is free to choose.

The Theme
Each World Environment Day is organized around a theme that focuses attention on a particularly pressing environmental concern. The theme for 2017 is connecting people to nature.
The Host
Every World Environment Day has a different global host country, where the official celebrations take place. The focus on the host country helps highlight the environmental challenges it faces, and supports the effort to address them. This year’s host is Canada.

Safety Schemes in Procurement

Enhancing our Health and Safety Systems to be simpler and more transparent

Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) is an initiative that puts safety at the heart of procurement. Supported by the HSE, SSIP aims to streamline prequalification and drive unnecessary cost and confusion out of supplier health and safety assessment.

We have recently enhanced our Occupational Health and Safety Management System, which complies with the requirements of BS OHSAS 18001:2007, to include SSIP, providing greater convenience and transparency for our entire supply chain.
