Reaching new heights

Our Vieo roof system has again been chosen for a significant new education facility. Vieo is a standing seam roofing system that emulates traditional long-strip metal roofing and helps deliver ground-breaking, enduring and high performance building envelope solutions using aluminium and other exciting metals and finishes.

The new building for Nursery, Reception and Year 1 is almost complete at the school in Exeter which brings together two existing primary schools; delivering an exciting development which serves both local children and the wider community. The school, designed by NPS South West Ltd for Devon County Council, is built on the outskirts of Exeter and is a two-storey structure that features an attractive and high performance Vieo roof, installed by Progressive Systems Ltd.

Exeter based main contractor Rok Building Ltd, commented: “It was a great project to be involved with and we hope that as well as an iconic new building, the school will also prove to be an inspirational place to learn, and an important focal point for the whole community.” Headmistress Lorraine Dunn echoed these remarks stating: “It is a state-of-the-art school, both educationally and environmentally, and it will be a fantastic facility for the staff to teach in and the children to learn in.”

CE Marking for Quattro Spacer System is an industry first.

Under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) there is a legal obligation for manufacturers to provide proof of their product’s “fitness for purpose”.

To comply with the CPR the Quattro spacer system for built up metal roof and wall cladding is the first product of its kind to be CE marked through the mechanism of achieving a European Technical Approval (ETA).

Spacer systems provide the structural anchor for the external sheet of a metal built-up roof or wall construction, whilst creating a cavity between the liner and external sheets to house insulation.  Such systems can only be CE marked through an ETA.

The CE Mark provides proof of Quattro’s “fitness for purpose” and by affixing the CE mark Euroclad demonstrates that the finished construction works will comply with the CPR requirements of:

• Mechanical resistance and stability
• Safety in case of fire
• Hygiene, health and environment
• Safety & accessibility in use
• Protection against noise
• Energy economy and heat retention
• Durability, Serviceability and Identification

Gateway to the East

Vieo is proving itself popular for a range of housing applications, most recently at the Eastern Gateway scheme in West Bromwich where it has been used to great effect on the roof and walls, with integrated solar panels and matching fabrications and flashings.

Located in West Bromwich town centre, the project is a mixed-use development which will provide the town with high quality affordable homes, office space and retail units. The £20 million project is a partnership between Sandwell Council, Accord Group and the Homes and Communities Agency and will transform the site into a thriving and attractive modern residential and commercial space.

Miller Industrial Cladding Ltd installed the specialist roof and wall cladding and were appointed by main contractor Mansell Midlands Limited.  Christian Collett, Commercial Director at Miller Industrial Cladding Ltd commented: “Vieo is a new and exciting product for housing applications and it lends itself really well to modern house construction.  The versatility of the materials and profiles means that it can be used to create an interesting design feature on the roof and walls that provides a modern finish without being faddy.  It’s also quick and simple to install and the support and service from Euroclad made the entire process expedient and straightforward.”
