More than 18,000 people will take part in Wales’ biggest road race, the Lloyds TSB Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday October 14th and a sixteen-strong team from Euroclad are hoping to raise almost £2,000 for Cancer Research.

When asked why so many people have decided to take part from the company Sian Davies, Euroclad Logistics Coordinator, replied “We’ve lost friends and co-workers to Cancer so it makes sense to support such a worthy cause that’s so close to our hearts.  We also have a colleague joining us in the challenge who has battled with the disease for the last few years which has inspired so many of us to enter the race.”

Sian went on to say “We would like to ask our valued customers and suppliers to support us in our efforts to raise as much money as we can for Cancer Research.”

If you are able to help then visit and sponsor one of our runners.  You can also send us a cheque or bring cash into the office.

Your support would mean so much to all of us here at Euroclad.  Thank You.

Our Greatest Team

What a great summer for UK sport; and our very own Lynn Davies CBE was at the heart of it.  Pictured with other Olympic legends Lynn played a key role at the stunning opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games, which he believes will go down as one of the greatest ever.

Affectionately known as “Lynn the Leap”, the president of UK Athletics commented: “This is my ninth Olympic Games and by far and away it’s the best I’ve ever been to in virtually every sense. The organisation has been absolutely brilliant and the volunteers who have come here and given their services free have made it a huge success.

“We’ve got a great debt of gratitude to the Army because 18,000 soldiers stepped in at the last minutes and made it safe and secure.

“Right from the opening ceremony, which I was delighted to take part in, it set the tone for these Games. When you walk around the park outside the stadium at night, there’s just a buzz about the place and there’s a feel-good factor.

“The Olympic Games have made everyone in this country feel very, very proud to be British.”

Lynn works with us as a specialist advisor to help us understand and satisfy the unique construction requirements of sporting facilities and stadia.

Driving success

SF500 Secret fix steel roofing is being installed at key areas of luxury carmaker Jaguar Land Rover’s new engine plant in the West Midlands.  The development is on the i54 business park in Wolverhampton, one of several new enterprise zones announced in July 2011 and the development will employ hundreds of people.

Enterprise zones offer new businesses tax breaks worth up to £275,000, simplified planning and super-fast broadband.  Wolverhampton City Council said that it hoped the new zone would create almost 4,000 net new jobs by 2015 in advanced manufacturing for the automotive and aerospace industries.

A breath of fresh air

We’re always proud of the great work our customers do to install attractive, functional metal building envelopes.  But sometimes something extra special comes along.  And it’s not always the biggest building or the craziest designs that pique our interest.  It’s often those attractive buildings that have been installed to a high standard, look great, perform to specification and act as a fine example of what can be achieved using our roof and wall products.

The Tremough AIR Innovation Centre in Cornwall is an example of just such a building.  It’s a £13million state of the art business innovation centre that provides excellent facilities and resources with the aim of creating significant numbers of high-value jobs and nurturing the development of high-skilled, growth enterprise in the county.  Some 1500m2 of our standing seam roof is combined with a living green roof, which helps the Centre use significantly less energy than a conventional office building. Not only does it look the business but does the job too.

The installation was completed by M.H. Massey based in Bristol.
